THE AWARDS RACE
Four trophies, no votes — the box scores are the ballot. Where every race stands tonight, and who's closing.
Nightly production weighted by winning — the best player on the best nights.
Not enough qualified players for an MVP race yet.
Steals, blocks, and the glass — who takes possessions away.
Not enough qualified players for a Defensive Player race yet.
Below the star line, above the noise — the players who tilt games without the headlines, weighted by winning.
Not enough qualified players for a Key Contributor race yet.
His first fifteen Association games against his last fifteen, on the MVP measure plus shooting. Stars excluded — this one belongs to the climbers.
The five best seasons on record, on the MVP measure. Positionless — the best five, whoever they are.
The five who take the most away, on the Defensive Player measure.
The next five on the MVP measure — minimum 40 games.
The next five on the Defensive measure — minimum 40 games.
One man per position, no duplicates — solved off the positional boards so the five carries the most total value. The desk's pick, receipts attached.
jspalt4No debate. He leads this league in points, assists, and production a game — a 53 PRF nobody else is within TEN of — and he owns the two biggest scoring nights ever played here: the 74-point game in Game 147, and the 60 he hung the game before it. The ball starts here.SG
Cartel SMLeads the Key Contributor race and made First Team All-Defense — 68% from the floor with shot-blocking no backcourt is supposed to have. Tops the two-guard board and sits second at power forward; the most complete two-way guard in the league.SF
Keonthebest25The wing every five needs — First Team All-Defense, leading the Defensive Player race, and top three all-time in steals. He guards your best while the stars eat.PF
GoodKarmaaNo. 1 on BOTH big-man boards, and the four is where he produces most. The first man in league history to 1,200 assists, and locked in a two-man war with RickJames323496 for the all-time lead that has now changed hands twice inside a week — with nobody else on the planet inside four hundred of either of them. Third all-time in points, level at second in Player of the Game awards, and more double-doubles than anybody who has ever played here. The whole résumé, playing downhill.C
TJ09First Team All-Defense and the deepest center résumé in the league — the all-time leader in BOTH rebounds and blocks, with the board lead now more than five hundred clear of second place. He anchors, he wins, he never costs you a possession.
SIXTH MANRickJames323496The all-time Player of the Game leader comes off the bench, and yes, we know how that sounds. His best position is the one jspalt4 owns outright. So he checks in as the most overqualified instant-offense man in league history — and he is going to hate this paragraph, which is part of why it stays.Any five in this league can get together and run it against this lineup. Beat this team in a five-game series and you will be labeled THE REDEEM TEAM — banner on this page, coverage in the Chronicle like a title fight. Get your five and call it out in the chat.
The races above are the argument. This is what has already been won.

The teams use the same pool and the same measures as the MVP and Defensive races, taken five deep. Nothing here is a vote.
